2017 HEALTH & WELL BEING WORKSHOPS

WORKSHOP 1: PRENATAL MATWORK PILATES
Presenter: Belinda Edwards, Pilates Instructor

Pilates is a great form of exercise to do before, during and after birth. Safe and fun, it focuses on pelvic and core strength to support the baby but also the mother's body as her pregnancy progresses. Maintaining necessary core strength aids in an easier vaginal birth and quicker recovery time. Plates also helps to repair the pelvic floor and abdominal muscles that have been stretched and strained throughout the pregnancy. It can also help to prepare your body for the challenge of carrying and feeding your new baby as he or she grows.

To be led by Belinda Edwards, our current Prenatal Pilates class instructor and mother of two, the Prenatal Pilates Workshop will be performed on the mat with easy to access equipment, so you can do the exercises at home.

The workshop will focus on:
- 
Awareness of good posture during pregnancy
- 
Lateral thoracic breathing for relaxation, stress relief and to assist the core & pelvic floor to function efficiently
- 
Take home exercises to strengthen and stabilise your joints and muscles
- 
Exercises to avoid during pregnancy

Note: This workshop has very limited spaces to ensure everyone gets the attention required for safe movement. In the meantime, if you are injury free and have clearance from your obgyn, you can join a Prenatal Pilates Reformer class with Belinda on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 5.30pm. Just click the booking buttons above or below to reserve your class spot online, 24/7. WORKSHOP 2: EXERCISES FOR A BETTER BACK
Presenter: Lahn U, Remedial Therapist & Clinical Pilates Instructor

Do you sometimes experience a niggle in your back? A sensation of tightness, stiffness or pain with movement? having trouble getting out of a chair or bending down?
 
There are many causes of back pain including poor posture, incorrect movement techniques and muscle weakness. This workshop, run by Lahn U, Remedial Therapist and Clinical Pilates instructor, will teach you some go to exercises and stretches to alleviate common back pain symptoms.
 
The workshop will cover:
- Outline of common causes of back pain
- How to strengthen your core and stabilise your back without doing sit ups
- Basic go to exercises to alleviate pain and stiffness

Preventative measures to help your back
