HOW TO SET UP YOUR REFORMER

Our approach to Pilates: Our instructors are certified in contemporary Pilates methods with experience teaching people from all fitness levels, movement needs and rehab goals. Our goal is to give you tools to help you move pain free, for as long as possible. A smooth, easy, relaxed approach to movement can also equal a great, challenging and sometimes sweaty workout, where appropriate. There will be times when your body will burn, fatigue and want to give up. We're here for you. There will be times when you'll be mentally and spatially challenged. You'll get body/brain smarter. Guaranteed. We work you to the best of your ability on the day and sometimes push you further than you thought was possible. Most importantly, we listen to you and modify exercises to suit your needs. Fitness, strength, stability and flexibility comes with good form, so don't be misled by the hard and fast approach, because burning in that one muscle doesn't mean you did it correctly. We keep our group classes small on purpose so no one feels lost in the crowd and to ensure your success.
Referrals: Many of our Clinical Pilates clients have been referred to us by local GP's, physiotherapists, osteopaths and chiropractors. If you're not being trained by a fully certified Pilates instructor, you may be missing out on vital exercises and modifications to suit your particular needs. You DO NOT need a referral to start Pilates but it is recommended if you have an existing medical condition that is managed by a medical specialist or for our prenatal clients, a history of miscarriages.
Private Health Insurance: Please note that group reformer classes may NOT be eligible for private health rebates. Always check with your individual health fund to see if these classes qualify for rebates as gym memberships. From 1st April 2019 only Pilates classes run by a physiotherapist will be claimable.
NDIS: Clients on a self managed plan may claim NDIS for their 1:1 clinical and 1:3 clinical small group sessions. Or speak to your plan manager before booking. It often depends on who you ask.
STUDIO HEALTH & SAFETY: Protect the surface, protect yourself. All equipment must be cleaned with the sprays provided after each use and non-slip Pilates socks must be worn during your session.
1:1 CLINICAL PILATES This is one-on-one Pilates personal training supervised by a qualified Pilates Instructor who has undergone specific training to deal with Injuries and Special Populations. Exercises combine the use of matwork, cadillac, stability chair, vertical frame and the rehab reformer which is set higher off the ground to accommodate clients with less mobility which may prevent them from comfortably using a lower reformer. We recommend clinical Pilates for clients for: - Prehab & injury rehab - Neurological conditions (MS & Parkinson's Disease) - Chronic pain syndromes (frozen shoulder, fibromyalgia, low back pain) - Degenerative conditions (osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, knee & hip OA) - Runners & cyclists - Pre/post pregnancy - Build confidence on equipment before regular classes - Extra attention & guidance |
1:1 Initial clinical Pilates sessions combined with remedial therapy (with Lahn) run for 60 minutes and include a postural assessment, muscle and orthopedic testing and soft tissue therapy where required. All follow up clinical sessions run for 50 minutes. As you progress through your training and rehabilitation, your instructor will work closely with you to determine when it is suitable for you to attend a regular Clinical Small Group Pilates session.
For more information on how clinical Pilates may benefit your condition, or to see if you can claim private health insurance for your session, please speak to your individual private health fund or call or email our clinic or visit our Healthy Info page to see if your condition is listed there. Note: our Clinical Pilates sessions CAN NOT be claimed under Physiotherapy.

STABILITY FOR HYPERMOBILITY - Starts 2025
|
SAFE FOR BACKS - Starts 2025 There’s nothing simple about Simple Back Pain. Chronic, intermittent, persistent, niggly, sometimes with referral down the butt and thighs, sometimes back pain is brought on by too much sitting, overloading, work, life stresses and past traumas. Let’s change the language of back pain and learn safe exercises with appropriate modifications to suit your situation. This class isn’t about going hard and fast. It’s about moving pain free and about working to the best of your ability that day. This is an Open Level 1:6 group class, suitable for everyone. |
GETTING OLDER, GETTING STRONGER - Starts 2025 Ageing gracefully has nothing to do with looks and all to do with maintaining movement, flexibility and strength. We feel younger when we can get about comfortably. So, ask yourself, how will you choose to age? This is an Open Level 1:6 group class, suitable for everyone. Prerequisites: Ideally be 60 years old and over. Be willing to give it your best on the day. Be open to trying new things. |
JUMP, JUMP, THE DADDY MACK WILL MAKE YA - Starts 2025 Can’t jump standing? Then jump lying down. But this isn’t like any other cardio class using the jumpboard. We still work on stability, balance, endurance, coordination, and stamina. Sometimes, we throw balls, we jog, we jump, we kick, we punch and pull. And then we make you do it in different positions. Sometimes, you’ll question why you joined this class but you’ll keep coming back for more. This is an Open Level 1:6 group class, suitable for everyone but not for prenatal clients unless you're already doing Pilates with us. |
CORE & SOMETHING MORE - Starts 2025 The core = all 4 main abdominals, diaphragm, pelvic floor (yes, men have that too), back and butt muscles. Your centre will burn on the surface and get stronger underneath where it counts. But it won't all be about the core. Let's make exercises functional by working our bodies in all planes of movement so we can move comfortably and pain free in our everyday lives. Think sitting, standing, walking, reaching, lifting, pulling, pushing, getting up out of bed (why is that so hard sometimes?). These are the something more. This is an Open Level 1:6 group class, suitable for everyone. |

Be prepared to test your co-ordination, strength, stability, flexibility and balance. Modifications will be given for different participant levels. *Not suitable for prenatal clients. |
PILATES FOUNDATIONS - ENDS 19/12/24
Pilates Foundations class is suitable for participants of All Levels but especially Beginners or clients who've been away due to pregnancy, illness/injury or holidays and need to touch base with the basics before entering regular group classes. This class covers equipment set up on the Reformer and Vertical Frame/Tower, Pilates foundation exercises that include breathing, head & spinal alignment, core/pelvic floor engagement, ribcage/shoulder/lumbar spine/pelvic placement and movement intention.
